Schmitz Christmas Dec 18th

Jeremy and I headed over to western Iowa for his family's Christmas this weekend. We started out in Elk Horn where Jeremy's aunt Shirley hosted a very nice family gathering complete with soups, treats, children's games, and even an appearance from Santa! The adults had a game of their own too - a white elephant gift exchange. I believe there were around 28 adults that participated. Jeremy and I ended up with a cute coffee mug and two vintage fabric Christmas pictures that we actually brought to the exchange. It was really nice to see everyone, especially since we missed this gathering last year.

Then we headed to Lenny and Doris's house to exchange gifts. This year we decided to draw names and had a $50 spending limit. Jeremy had Brad and got him a ticket to this years Iowa State vs Nebraska football game. They went to the game together in November and sadly Iowa State lost, but it was very close! I drew Crystal's name and got her snowboots. Crystal also had me and she got me an electric kettle and a candle. Herbal tea is my new thing this year and I have been wanting a kettle - not to mention I love hot chocolate and cider. It will get a lot of use. Nate gave Jeremy a sound bar for our tv. It's a speaker that enhances sound. It really gives more depth to the sound. Jeremy will enjoy watching football all the more now. :-)

And of course, it was fun to watch Ashton open his gifts, then play with the box it came in! :-) He is a ball of energy! I think his favorite present was the tricycle from Doris and Lenny. I tried to get a good photo of him sitting of it, but he wouldn't hold still. Too much excitement I guess.

The roads were pretty clear so we didn't have any trouble traveling. Next weekend is Christmas and we are headed to Bettendorf. There's supposed to be a heavy snow storm Thrusday - hope we can make it back!
